Good news for all you procrastinators out there! Normally, US tax returns are due April 15. This year is a bit different: April 15 is a Saturday, which bumps the deadline to this coming Monday, April 17. So why April 18? Because April 17 is a holiday in the District of Columbia — Emancipation Day. And this pushes the tax filing deadline to April 18. Under the tax law, legal holidays in the District of Columbia affect the filing deadline across the nation.
