The US added 130,000 new jobs in August — 105,000 not counting 25,000 hires for 2020 Census; 100,000 is required for new job growth.
The US manufacturing sector shrank for the first time in three years, with the ISM Manufacturing Index falling to 49.1 for August.
China and the US agreed to meet in October for trade negotiations, as both sides implemented additional new tariffs on Sunday.
Hong Kong’s credit rating was downgraded to AA from AA+ by Fitch, after three months of political unrest with no end in sight.
