The U.S. Congress is set to approve nearly $900 billion in Covid-19 aid, after $2.3 trillion in March, as part of a $1.4 trillion spending bill to fund the federal gov’t through Sept. 2021.

Major European countries banned travel from a locked-down U.K. on concerns about a more contagious strain of Covid-19 still being researched.

The FDA approved a second Covid-19 vaccine, this one by Moderna; distribution began Sunday, Dec. 20.

U.S. retail sales fell 1.1% in Nov. after a 0.1% decline in Oct., amid falling household income and raging Covid-19 infections.

The Federal Reserve loosened restrictions on bank stock buybacks; limited to average net income over 4 latest quarters.
