Helping Communities Thrive
BUILDING A STRONGER REGION FOR GENERATIONS TO COME
With deep roots in the Puget Sound region, Laird Norton Wealth Management understands the importance of strengthening the community. Our Commitment to the Environment
Our parent company – Laird Norton Company – annually tracks the carbon output of our operations and actively seeks to mitigate that impact in various ways, including: (1) incentivizing LNWM employees to use public transportation and other energy saving strategies; (2) offsetting our annual carbon output by funding water and electricity conservation programs sponsored by utilities and other non-profits, such as the Bonneville Environmental Foundation.
In November 2017, Laird Norton Wealth Management partnered with the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art, Clars Auction Gallery and KCTS 9 to host a unique event, The Collector’s Roadshow. In a museum setting, local owners of art, antiques and collectibles mingled with a panel of experts to get insights on valuation, options for insuring and tips for passing on to future generations through estate planning. Laird Norton Wealth Management is committed to the history and vibrancy of the Pacific Northwest.
Symphonies are a vital part of arts communities worldwide, and especially here in Seattle. A new partnership between Laird Norton Wealth Management (LNWM) and the Seattle Symphony works to ensure that the symphony continues to thrive now and for generations to come.
The partnership aims to strengthen the Seattle Symphony by educating donors on financially-responsible ways to show their support while planning their estates. Read the press release about the partnership.
Creating Vibrant Public Spaces
LNWM presented Innovative Public Spaces: The NYC Highline to the Seattle Waterfront in partnership with Friends of Waterfront Seattle. Our speakers: James Corner, Landscape Architect for the NYC High Line as well as Seattle’s new Waterfront; and Robert Hammond, co-founder of Friends of the High Line. They focused on the rare opportunity Seattle has to transform its waterfront into a world-class, urban gathering place.
Pianos in the Parks
In summer 2014, 2015 and 2016, LNWM initiated and sponsored Pianos in the Parks, working closely with more than a dozen community partners to bring art and music to local parks and open spaces. Lavishly decorated pianos in select parks throughout Seattle and King County invited people to play, discover the great outdoors, and connect with their community.
King County Parks Foundation
In 2013, Laird Norton Wealth Management partnered with King County Parks to launch the King County Parks Foundation, in celebration of Parks’ 75 years of service. Seeded with a $75,000 gift from LNWM, the Foundation’s goal is to raise $7.5 million from private sources in the next 10 years. We can do it, with your help.
Key funding priorities for the Foundation are:
- To create new parks or expand existing ones through acquisitions of land and easements;
- To connect green spaces with trails, extending our area’s green corridors;
- To create more options for leisure and recreation at King County’s many parks.
Such forward-thinking projects will preserve and enhance our green spaces, protect our water and wildlife, and entice more people in our growing region to spend time outdoors.
