Debra Smiley
Director, Client Services
After working at major US banks administering trusts for more than 20 years, Debra joined LNMW because “we listen.” We take the time to listen so we can fully understand our clients’ needs, hopes and aspirations, she says. And only then do we explore how to align and apply their assets in ways that will have meaningful positive impact on family and community, often over many generations.
Classically trained as an opera singer, Debra knows that real life can be full of plot twists and turns. Managing change is one of the things Debra loves about administering trusts. The terms of trusts vary widely to begin with, she notes, and change is not uncommon as the lives of our clients and their beneficiaries evolve. When major decisions must be made, Debra is ready with analysis and insights.
A big believer in sharing her knowledge to help others, Debra is actively involved with community nonprofits that create opportunities for minorities to learn and achieve. She is especially focused on creating awareness among people of color about how to build multigenerational wealth and attracting more minorities to work in trusts and estate planning.
