Roland Royal

Trust Analyst

After more than two decades in financial services, Roland has navigated through many challenges and opportunities. He applies all that determination and more to make sure that the trusts we manage for clients work as intended. A trust is fixed in time, says Roland, it’s a document. But life is constantly evolving, so as trustees or co-trustees we need to interpret how the terms of the trust apply as circumstances change. To do that well requires having strong relationships with the beneficiaries of each trust, as well as with our clients who set up the trust. “It is never dull.”

The great thing about working at LNWM, Roland says, is that we are a firm with very large capabilities, but we interact with our clients like a small firm would. “Because LNWM started out as a trust company in the late 1960s, it brings to the table decades of experience explaining trusts to clients, analyzing what is possible for a trust to do, providing advice based on decades of managing trusts, and the common sense that comes from dealing with family dynamics over the decades. “We do all that, and that’s why people seek us out.”

A big believer that people need safe, supportive environments to thrive, Roland has volunteered at the YMCA, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and most recently at Oxford House. Says Roland: “It takes careful planning to transition people out of homelessness and substance abuse, not just throwing money at the problem. People are hurting and to heal the soul takes time, grace, and patience but the outcome is increased happiness and overall life satisfaction.”
