Laird Norton Wealth Management Is Celebrating 50 Years and New Initiatives
Much has changed in Seattle, in the US, and in world since 1967. What remains the same is Laird Norton’s commitment to independence, objectivity and doing what is best for our clients.
“In a year of significant change and uncertainty, we want to be a stronghold of trust, and that’s why we’re celebrating and reflecting on our successes of the past 50 years as we open new doors to the future,” says Bob Moser, president and CEO of Laird Norton Wealth Management.
Building on success and innovating for growth is not new to Laird Norton Wealth Management. Our history is intertwined with that of Seattle, as we have evolved over time to provide new products and services for our clients’ changing lives:
1967 — The Laird Norton Trust Co. is launched to manage the financial assets of the Laird and Norton families, today in their seventh generation as successful business owners.
1979 — The Laird Norton Trust Co. expands to serve clients outside the Laird and Norton families, which today comprise about 75% of our client base.
2004 — The Laird Norton Trust Co. merges with Tyee Asset Strategies to create Laird Norton Wealth Management, a full-service wealth management company capable of meeting all of our clients’ complex financial needs: financial planning; trust services and estate planning; and investment management.
Homegrown Innovation
Since 2013, Laird Norton Wealth Management has made significant investments to meet clients on their terms. These include: enhanced digital access and financial reporting; in-house think tanks on tax efficiency, retirement planning, and next generation wealth; and access to specialty investments that align with client focus, such as socially responsible investing.
In addition, we continue to attract exceptional talent from around the country for our leadership team, naming a new chief investment officer and a managing director for fiduciary services in the past year.
Next 50 Years
As we move into our second half-century, we will continue to introduce products, services and community relationships to better serve our clients’ changing lives.
In 2017, one of LNWM’s priorities is exploring new offerings that combine personalized financial planning with online planning and investing tools, especially for the growing professional and tech-savvy population in the greater Seattle region.
Our commitment to the well-being of the Seattle area is unwavering. Having partnered with many leading Puget Sound non-profits, we will continue to forge alliances that benefit the financial, cultural and civic longevity of the Pacific Northwest.
Says LNWM CEO Bob Moser: “Seattle is a world-class city with a homegrown spirit of innovation, and it deserves a wealth management firm that reflects its locally-grown, globally-focused, values-driven character. At 50 years, we’re proud that Laird Norton Wealth Management has served that role, and we recognize the opportunity to do more.”
