Toward an Evergreen Legacy
The Northwest’s open spaces provide us with a sense of well-being, a sense of wonder, and a sense of place. This is why earlier this year Laird Norton Wealth Management (LNWM) partnered with King County Parks to create the King County Parks Foundation. And why we invited Douglas Brinkley, Ph.D. to speak at our annual Thought Forum on September 25.
An acclaimed historian and best-selling author, Dr. Brinkley has written extensively about conservationist visionaries – the people with the vision, the tenacity and the courage to create lasting environmental legacies, from Theodore Roosevelt to John Muir.
What these “wilderness warriors” instinctively grasped is that the nature around us must be preserved. Today, many of us are coming to this same realization as we seek ways to have an enduring and positive impact on our community.
What better way to make a difference than to partner with those working to safekeep and enhance our natural bounty?
King County’s 26,000 acres of green and 175 miles of winding trails are the focus of the King County Parks Foundation, the philanthropic endeavor LNWM helped launch this year in honor of King County Park’s 75th Anniversary.
